Working Towards Unleashing My Ultimate Potential Day By Day
Hi there ! my name is Jazmine Nieves. I am also known as Soul. I was born in Brooklyn, but I am also profoundly influenced by my childhood in Kissimmee, Florida. When I was in 8th grade I moved back to NYC Harlem. My art journey began with creative makeup looks and simple notebook doodles. During the pandemic I jumped into art with both feet. I created over 70 paintings and 40 wire-wrapped jewelry pieces in 2020. At the time I was just having fun! I didn’t know that it was going to lead me to be a professional artist.
In July 2020, the sale of my first painting ignited my interest in the business side of figurative as well as abstract art. One year later when I returned to my pre-pandemic job. It was there that I reconnected with Joan Greenberg, who encouraged me to pursue art school. My acceptance into art school led me to organize two successful solo exhibitions and concerts in Harlem to fund my education. I credit in part my family and friends for helping me put the shows together.
I have always found solace and healing through my art . In 2022 I went to Africa. While I was there I visited Nigeria and Ghana. In January of 2022 I painted my first mural at a school in James town Ghana.
When I returned from Ghana I hosted a philanthropic Solo exhibition at Basquiat’s bottle in Brooklyn with the help of my Curator Jomani Daniel. I sent 30 percent of all of the proceeds to the school that I worked with .
In 2023, I became an after-school art teacher and private tutor for children through a non profit named Spark. In the summer 2024 I began teaching private art lessons to blind and special needs children. In the fall of 2024 I lead New York City’s first ever art and nature camp.

Learn how to mix and create your own colors and textures using unconventional materials. Learn how to set up a still life that has meaning to your personal existence. Are you a primarily acrylic based artist? Allow me to show you the joys of oil painting and how to do it in a safe way. For example : did you know that oil paint is combustable, meaning it can catch on fire on it’s own. Let’s avoid that together.
Allow me to teach you how to extend your acrylic paint in a way that will help you save money on supplies and diversify your portfolio?
Are you the kind of artist that gets stuck when creating because you “need everything to be perfect?” please allow me to inspire you to break out of that so that you can explore and express more concepts.
